Peking University GymnasiumPeking University Gymnasium is the venue for table tennis competition in the Beijing Olympic Games; it is a steel structure building, which relies on a seven-part support system comprising a pre-stress inhaul cable and horizontal, vertical, and other supportive components.

Every part of the design fully implemented the idea of “Green Olympics”, “Energy Conservatory”.

It is divided into the inner layer and the outer layer. They form a round passage, which could act as a conservatory in winter and can ventilate and cooling in summer.

Besides, there are solar energy collectors above the natatorium; the collected energy is to preheat the circulating water. The main gym’s roofing use siphonal drainage system, the rest use gravity drainage system. The collected rain will be send to the water network of the University through the underground channel to irrigating the plants.
